The pandemic has many many downsides, but at least it has driven down the prices of cars for all us window internet shoppers. Of course, it is also a tremendously crappy time to have to sell a car to make ends meet, so my heart goes out to many of the private sellers here. But let’s just enjoy some of these amazing deals to take our minds off the present situation.

As always, let’s start off with something really rare.

1986 MERKUR 2.3 Turbo - $3,000

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The title of the ad promises this is a Mercury, but the actual ad text says otherwise. By the way. it’s pronounced Mare-Coor. At any rate, the 87k miles is not disputed, and the overall condition has potential, though somewhat marred by the fogged up headlamps and a dash ‘o many cracks.

For a rare clean titled project with lowish mileage, $3,000 seems pretty cheap.

1996 Jeep Cherokee Two Door - $2,000

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

How about some David Tracy bait? Complete with 4 liter straight six w/ only 120k on the odo, 5 speed manual, vent windows, and sans extraneous doors, how can you go wrong? I guess the disgusting upholstery might turn some buyers away, since it appears something spilled or water leaked in in great quantities.

We don’t get a good look at it and it appears to be at a shady buy-here-pay-here place, but a favorable inspection might make this a hidden gem if you are willing to give that interior a good scrubbing.

1990 BMW don’t know - $150

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This guy knows what he has.

2007 BMW 3 Series 328i Coupe - $4,000

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! caught me off guard with just how good it looks for that mileage. Just look at those seats. Sure the trim in some areas, such as the door pulls, are a little ragged, but this appears to have been well taken car of.

The front end shows what appears to be a few scuffs, a dent or two, and a missing BMW roundel under what appears to be bird poop, but this seems like a nice car for that price with a little bodywork. Even better with a little negotiation.

2015 Fiat 500 Pop - $5,895

Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This is basically a new car with only 30,000 miles spread out over 5 years. And it has the 5 speed. The three previous owners is bit worrying, but this is only about $1k more expensive than 100k mile 500 Pops.

This !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is a little cheaper than average at $4,500, and I like the color combo better, but that extra grand really buys you a lot of value here.

2001 Audi TT - $3,995

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This seller apparently thinks the raw horsepower is the biggest selling point of the TT, which has led them to charge just $4,000 for the 100k mile roadster.

Everyone laughed at the previous post’s cheap but broken TT, so I thought I would include this one here. For only double the price you get a (temporarily) working masterpiece!

2004 Toyota Tacoma - $6,000

Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

But is the Tacoma Tax exempt?

No. No it is not.

So, what did you think of this list? If I had to choose a two car garage out of these, I would take the Merkur and the Tacoma. What about you guys?

The Tacoma appears to have a big, bushy black mustache.

Thanks. Atlanta’s a bit far for a 2WD Cherokee, but less likely to be thrashed.

Audi tts make me so nostalgic. I have no idea why. I wish they weren't such steaming piles of shit so I could get my sister one.

People can still thrash ‘em here, but the frame is less likely to be rusty enough to snap in half. I’ve only seen a few two doors around here but most of them have been in really good shape. Last year I saw a 5 speed two door in pretty much factory fresh condition at the local Kroger where there always seems to be something interesting parked.

Ha it very much does. Was that realization as sudden as that of   Twinkle Twinkle Little Star earlier or a lifelong personification of a hard working truck? The latter is true in my case.

My working theory is that 4wd Cherokees are more likely to be taken off-road, so 2wd ones are, hopefully, more gently treated.

Of course a manual transmission vehicle is always begging to be thrashed.

I just saw the picture and was struck by how black and plastic the grille was, and I thought, “Huh. It looks like it has a mustache.” It’s the kind of truck that would have a name like Jim, Larry, or Fred . If you need to borrow a tool, this truck probably has one. It’s the kind of truck tha t knows who won the most recent sportsball game. It’s the kind of truck you could invite over for a barbecue and ha ve a good time with.

The realization that twinkle twinkle and ABC are the same song shocked me to my very core.

Hmm...I’ve seen cars of similar vintage for that price, but never running... ‘56 Desoto for $3k .

Man, all original 53k miles? That’s a NP if most of the rust is surface. Interior needs a bit of work though. Also, DeSoto!

But do you mean you never see mid 2000s cars in the 3k range? I am used to th em being a bit higher but these are 15 years old now. There was even  a $2,500 Corolla S with 180k miles.

No, sorry, I mean I never see 50s cars for that price unless they need an engine, and transmission, and fuel pump, and...

I didn’t mention any 50s cars but I guess I didn’t have to. Your point remains valid. Very rarely does such a cheap old car need apparently so little work.

It’s not an Abarth but I guess at that price I could even let the boring color combo slide.

I hear IM is just handing out cars. Ask him.

The BMW motorcycle is a BMW K75. Odd little duck. Inline three cylinder with fuel injection (still has a choke) dry clutch shaft driven motorcycle.

Source: there's pieces of an 88 K75 in my garage with dreams of becoming a cafe racer style bike.

Well if you buy it for parts it could be a BMW Do Know. Sounds interesting.

I could maybe use the handlebars but I am still debating on clip ons (PITA due to factory fork diameter 41.3mm) and the gas tank is worth something if it’s im good shape. Other wise most of the parts look in pretty rough condition. Plus I am not i n Georgia. Lol

I don't think a road trip is in order right now for a cheap parts bike.
